Psycho Poster Silkscreen

Afbeelding
In on of the lessons in the beginning we had to watch the movie Psycho. The assignment that followed was to create poster which you had to create in Illustrator and which you could print afterwards by using the silkscreen method. This is one of the first printing processes which give you a nice vintage like effect. I already had a printed one because I was too late due to the fact that my poster wan't ready. This however did gave me the chance to compare a printed one with the silkscreen one. And I do have to say that the silkscreen version does have way more character and attitude to it due to the fact that it isn't perfect. But in my opinion this imperfection does add thé finishing touch.

Psycho Poster Sketches & Small Print

After watching the movie Psycho we had to create a poster for it. For my poster I used the scene where the camera turns to the right and a stuffed bird get's pushed up. For the title I used the sharp shape of the knife, and the line at the bottom at the credits is a hartbeat monitor which shows a live heart at first and then a dead one at the end.

Dumb sculpture

A while ago I had to make a dumb sculpture with a distant noise. That morning on my way to school in te bus, I saw a fairly large woman riding on a scooter. Because of this I immediately thought it was a good opportunity to use it in my work. Because of her shape it's not really clever to travel by scooter as she should be better of by riding a bicycle. Eventually I dropped the scooter in my image but I did keep the sound to remind you of the scooter. As for the sculpture itself I made a big plumpy figure which has been abstracted a little bit so the attention goes more to the figure and the rounded shapes itself.

Creating my Maquette

For one of my tutors I had to create a scale model of a theater play: In the first lesson we had to draw some objects from our room. After that we had to combine them into new 'things'. My objects were a computer monitor, some weights for weight-lifting, a fitness bench, and a paint easel. This resulted into a very creative and highly muscled Donkey with a paint brush, because in the old people used donkey's as they could stand still for hours. After that I had to create a a story and draw several scenés for a fictional play in which I had to play a roll to. And last but not least my bedroom had to serve as the decor. So my story was as follow: Meet me! A small graphic designer from Lochem who is everything but creative. So I search the internet looking for creativity, but suddenly my computer crashes, turns off and then turns back on, and then in all of a sudden I get a message the message: Thank you for ordering our personal coach for designers! And from there th...

Here's a little Photoshop manipulation I had to create. The assignment was to pick a photo from the daily news so you could photoshop yourself in it. At the time I choose for Kim Jong Un, after which I put my own face on it. Original Photo: Retouched Photo:
