ACD 2th Semester Introduction Camp

Afbeelding
This week I had a short introduction camp for my second semester in which I'm finally placed at ACD(Crossmedia Design). This camp took place in Buurse about 45 minutes cycling south of Enschede. Although this camp lasted only 3 days, it was a real eye opener! To start I have met and spoken to Bas Könning, one of the tutors from which I will receive lessons in the second year. On the first day he began with giving a really fascinating lecture about 'Participative Design'. To keep it short, he's going to teach us how to properly interact with our audience, this is all about a two way communication. After this we received our assignment. We were split in groups and had to create a real life game. This could be an existing/new and/or modified game. On the first day we had to create a concept, on the second day we had to get materials and create the actual game and on friday we had to play all the games that were created. Together with Romé, Alicia and Denisé we crea

First day of ACD: Introduction

Okay, where shall I start? Today we had an introduction of the first week of ACD, Crossmedia Design. We already received our first assignment: A Box About Me Create, in a shoe box, something that tells who you are. The result has to be created in such a way so that everyone will remeber who you are! Sounds cool right? I will upload the result tomorrow evening as it will take some time for my idea to be finished. ACD bicycle trip/camp On wednesday we will also be going on a little trip by bicycle and will be back on friday five O'clock in the afternoon. The instructions regarding what we will be doing, will be known on that day itself.  But first, I have to find me a nice shoebox for me to overhaul!

Sculpture that moves, makes noise and is reflecting Prototype

For Sculpture we had to create a sculpture that moves, makes noises and reflects. For this artwork I was immediately thinking of high tech moving structures. I abstracted this idea until I had triangle like shapes that could move by integrating gears. This resulted in an interesting object that looks like as if it could generate power. This is my prototype where I tested the gears in combination with the shapes.

Presentation by artist Bart Jansen

A long time ago we had a very fascinating presentation held by the artist Bart Jansen. He has a fascination for dead animals that have been run over by vehicles on he road. This inspired him to create the works I have photographed underneath here, such as the Orvillecopter, his past away cat that he turned into a drone, and a realistic version of Pino from Sesame Street that has been run over.
